BGVs stem from long-established rustic stock, bred for work. Overall they are healthy hounds with few problems. However that is not to say they do not exist. The Health section gives information.
  4. Need Help............?

The Club welcomes a new President

At the Club AGM on 6 April 2019 members present gave unanimous approval to the honoured acceptance by Professor Peter Bedford of becoming President of the BGV Club.

As an Honorary Member, Peter is regarded highly with his background within the breed of at least 23yrs of unswerving support, eye-testing PBGVs, pre-empting Primary Open Angle Glaucoma, advising treatment and continuous support for any afflicted PBGV.  He continues post-DNA eye testing and is vigilant in detecting other eye concerns.

We can give no higher appreciation of his work for BGVs than by welcoming him as our new President.
BGV Club Limited Odds Draw
For just £1 a month your number will be in with a chance of winning one of the Club's monthly draws.  First prize ranges from £15 to £50.  There are second and third prizes every month too.

Profits support the BGV Club's Welfare and Rescue Fund where money is needed for those less fortunate BGVs who need our help.

You have to be in it to win it!

Following on from our 2016 Health Survey, the BGVC is anxious to collate information about a BGV’s age at death and the cause.

This is an ongoing initiative to collect clinical health information on all BGVs during their lifespan.
You can help the breed by completing the form here  ................
Surveys & Seminars
Continuing the tradition  ..........................................

IN OUR LIFETIME dog folk have always had a choice of two newspapers containing news on all aspects of the canine world.  Weekly breed notes are an important  feature, giving up to date information on your chosen breed and, over time, these combine to build a vital historical record.  However, on 13 June 2017 one of the papers, Dog World - which first appeared on 21 February 1902 under the title of Illustrated Kennel News - went into administration.
As one door closes, another opens.  To continue the tradition of providing news of our breeds, you will now be able to read weekly notes on this website.
