We are saddened that we have been informed by the family of founder member of the Basset Griffon Vendéen Club, Mrs Stella Hunt, that she sadly passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday 3rd October 2025 at the age of 103 years. Known as Nickie she was involved in the very early days of the Petit Basset Griffon Vendéen in the UK. She first owned and bred PBGVs in the early 70s and became a founder member of the BGV Club in 1978. She is pictured with Jomil Bourbon of Huntersbrook at Crufts in 1974. Our sincere condolences to her family and friends. Nickie's funeral will be held on Wednesday 19th November 2025, 13.15pm at Ipswich West Chapel Crematorium. 10 Cemetery Lane, Ipswich, IP4 2TQ. Breed Notes compiled by Lizzie Cadmore11/11/25 PBGV I realised too late last week that I had missed an Open show result so here it is now; at the Hound Association of Scotland Open Show, Lorna Wyllie’s Tangaer Jemima Puddleduck at Callydena (Ch Vencharno Stuck On You x Tangaer Heather) was Best Puppy in Breed, Best of Breed, and Reserve Best Puppy in Show. Back to this week and at Weston-Super-Mare Open show, Lizzie Cadmore’s Soletrader Sybil Fawlty (Ch Soletrader Happy As Larry x Ch Soletrader Cotton Candy) once again won the Hound Puppy Group and Reserve Best Puppy in Show. Further up North, Ch/Ir Ch/Int Ch Erylan Hebe La Fille Jeune (Ch Soletrader Tom Thumb x Ch & Ir Ch Erylan Aphrodite La Belle), owned by Gail & Raymond Foote and Erin McAulay, was Best Veteran in Show. In Poland at the International Dog Show in Poznan, Black Majesty Picture This (Black Majesty U Got The Look x Cro Ch Black Majesty New York) owned by Krystsina Yanchy & Iva Raic, was Best of Breed and fourth in the group both days. The day before this show Picture This was also Best of Breed and third in the group at the National Hunting Dog Show. At the Mukula Marraskuu show in Finland, Hanna Leinonen, Jaana Repo & Kristina Bergstrom’s Rosarian Isle of Fight (Taglines Grab A Summer Classic x Int Ch Rosarian Islamorada with MG’s) was Best of Breed and fourth in the group. At Denmark’s International Dog Show on Friday, Ch/Dk/Fin/Ir Ch Soletrader Pat On The Back (Ch Soletrader Magic Mike x Ch Around Zlightly Different with Soletrader (Imp Swe)), owned by Anders Tunold-Hanssen & Sara Robertson, won the group. Iceland hosted a Specialty Show for FCI Group 6 breeds and Karen Ösp Guðbjartsdóttir had a great day with her team. Her Cro Ch Black Majesty New York (Around Double Magic x Int Ch Black Majesty Griotte) was Best of Breed and Reserve Best in Show, Made U Look Big Apple Bonanza (Ice Ch Soletrader Times Square x Black Majesty New York) was Best Junior in Show, and half-brother Made U Look Didn’t I (Ice Ch Soletrader Times Square x Ice Ch Black Majesty Shake It Off) was Best in Show Baby. Karen’s Made U Look kennel was Best Breeder in Show too. To North America and in British Columbia, Canada, at the Elsie Murray Canine Centre Society on Saturday, Can & Am Ch Mirepoix’s Totally Hitched (Felix Dit Finistere Du Chemin Des Bruleurs x Am GChS Mirepoix’s Kate Spade), owned by Kristina Krieck & Ross Litman, was fourth in the group and Sharon Betker’s After-Ours Walkin After Midnight At Weskyuwin (Can GChB Soletrader Thunderball x Nightdream Patsy Cline) was Best Baby Puppy in Group. South of the border to the USA and at the Furniture City KC in North Carolina, Bayje Pomeroy’s Am GCh Black Majesty Ballet de Chantilly (Around Double Magic x Rokeena Corroboree) was Owner Handler Group 4 on Saturday and Owner-Handler Group 2 on Sunday. At the Alaska Hound Group Association, Terry Dennison’s Katagnik Kiss Yourself A Princess (GCh Sun Peaks Legendary Hero Katagnik x Always Tetu Dixie Mint Julep) was third in the group. At the Southern Colorado KC on Friday, GCh Trio's Bridgerton at Rosewood (GChS Soletrader Dean Martin x GChS Mirepoix’s Dubble Bubble), owned by Tiffany Cannon and Clint & Karen Livingston, was third in the group, and repeated this result both day over the weekend. GBGV At Preston & District Open Show, Craig, Linda and Stefanie Brown’s Ir Ch Claela Sweet Dreams (Ch Claela Infinity And Beyond x Ch Claela No Looking Back) was Best of Breed and fourth in the group. Now to Spain where once again where Colin & Ann Makey’s Multi Ch Gairside Good Lord (Can Can v Tum-Tums Vriendjes Debucher x Ch Gairside Sans Souci) was Best of Breed and won the group at a show in Torre Pacheco. At the International Dog Show in Poznan, Poland, Kasia Zacharewicz’s Pl Ch Cartier D'Amour Succession of Baron (Ch/Du & Int Ch Tarmachan Cartier x Harmony Succession of Baron) won the CAC, CACIB and Best of Breed on the first day, whilst Pl JCh Rosalie Succession of Baron (Côte D'armor Du Greffier Du Roi x Harmony Succession of Baron) won the CAC & CACIB on the second day with her dam Grand Ch Pl Harmony Succession of Baron (Hillguard’s Doctor Watson x Donatella Succession of Baron) taking CACIB-Veteran, Best Veteran and Best of Breed on the second day. At the International Dog Show in Denmark, Minskuhoff's Sparkling Dream (Int Ch Minskuhoff's Grand X-presso x Int Ch Minskuhoff's Frozen Heart), owned by Maria Aaltovirta, was fourth in the group.
